Zomigon is a cerebral vasoconstrictor used to relieve migraine headache attacks as they occur. This medicine contains zolmitriptan and belongs to a group of medicines also known as "triptans".

Zomigon is very effective in relieving migraine headaches, however, it can not prevent or reduce the number of attacks you experience.

It is best to take a dose of Zomigon as soon as you notice headache symptoms of a migraine attack. If your headache returns, you may take another dose, but you must allow at least 2 hours between doses of this medicine. Do not take more than 10 mg in a 24 hour period.

Effective dosage:
Single 2.5 or 5 mg dose as soon as headache symptoms occur.

Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. In order to avoid serious side effects, you must consult with your doctor about the safe use of this product. Inform him about all prescription and non-prescription medicines that you are taking, especially if have taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) or other migraine medicines, and other medicines that may also cause drowsiness (such as medicine for sleep, anti-anxiety medicines, narcotic pain relievers, psychiatric medicines, anti-seizure medicines, muscle relaxants, antihistamines).

Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions including cluster headaches, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding.

Additional monitoring of your dose or condition may be also needed if you have other conditions that may increase your risk for heart blood vessel disease. In some conditions, the use of this medicine is not recommended or even highly prohibited.

Side effects, that may go away during treatment, include numbness or tingling of skin, nausea, dizziness, or drowsiness. If they continue or are bothersome, or if you notice any other effects, check with your doctor. Stop taking this medicine and contact your doctor if you experience shortness of breath; swelling of the eyelids, face, or lips; chest pain; or develop a skin rash or hives.
